The second part of the Shahada is not just a statement. It is a commitment to take the Prophet ﷺ as your guide in how to live Islam.
The Shahada has two parts. The first is that ALLAH alone is worthy of worship. The second is that Muhammad ﷺ (Peace Be Upon Him) is the Messenger of ALLAH. You cannot fully separate them.
Testifying that he is the Messenger means accepting that his message is true, that his way is the way Islam is meant to be lived, and that his guidance — alongside the Quran — is your guide. This is not blind tradition. It is what ALLAH instructed:

ALLAH did not just tell us what to believe — He showed us through the life of the Prophet ﷺ (Peace Be Upon Him) how to live it.
ALLAH makes a direct connection between love for the Prophet ﷺ and love for ALLAH:

Following the Prophet ﷺ (Peace Be Upon Him) is not a secondary matter. It is how ALLAH's love is earned. This is why Muslims send peace and blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ whenever his name is mentioned.
ALLAH describes the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Peace Be Upon Him) not merely as a guide for Muslims — but as a mercy for the entirety of creation:
Quran 21:107
His message lifted people from injustice, gave rights to the oppressed, established the dignity of women and the poor, and provided a complete way of life that is merciful to human nature.
