Salah (صلاة — salaah) is the second pillar of Islam and the most regular act of worship in a Muslim’s life. Muslims pray five times every day, establishing a direct and intimate connection with ALLAH.

“The head of the matter is Islam, its pillar is prayer, and its pinnacle is jihad in the way of ALLAH.”
Prayer was commanded by ALLAH directly to the Prophet ﷺ (Peace Be Upon Him) during the Night Journey (al-Isra’ wal-Mi’raj). The account is recorded in the authenticated Seerah narrations:

During the Night Journey, ALLAH prescribed fifty prayers. Through the Prophet’s ﷺ (Peace Be Upon Him) repeated intercession — guided by Musa (Moses) (Peace Be Upon Him) — they were reduced to five, while ALLAH declared: “These are five prayers, but they are equal to fifty in reward.”
إِنَّ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ كَانَتْ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ كِتَٰبًا مَّوْقُوتًا
“Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers at specified times.”

Salah is not a burden — it is an invitation. Five times a day, the Muslim pauses whatever they are doing and returns to their Creator. It is a constant reminder of purpose, a break from the distractions of the world, and a source of peace.
وَأَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ إِنَّ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ تَنْهَىٰ عَنِ ٱلْفَحْشَآءِ وَٱلْمُنكَرِ
“Establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing.”

Each prayer consists of raka’at (units): Fajr = 2, Dhuhr = 4, Asr = 4, Maghrib = 3, Isha = 4.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ مَٰلِكِ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ ٱهْدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ
“In the name of ALLAH, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to ALLAH, Lord of all the worlds. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Master of the Day of Judgment. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us to the straight path.”
