ALLAH Is the Creator of Everything
ٱللَّهُ خَٰلِقُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ ۖ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَكِيلٌ
“ALLAH is the Creator of all things, and He is, over all things, Disposer of affairs.”
ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ ۖ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ خَٰلِقُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ فَٱعْبُدُوهُ ۚ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَكِيلٌ
“That is ALLAH, your Lord; there is no deity worthy of worship except Him, the Creator of all things, so worship Him. And He is Disposer of all things.”
ALLAH Is the Only One Who Provides
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَتَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ ۚ هَلْ مِنْ خَٰلِقٍ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ يَرْزُقُكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤْفَكُونَ
“O mankind, remember the favor of ALLAH upon you. Is there any creator other than ALLAH who provides for you from the heaven and earth? There is no deity worthy of worship except Him, so how are you being deluded?”
Hadith Evidence
The famous Hadith of Muadh ibn Jabal (رضي الله عنه) beautifully connects Rububiyyah with the worship that must follow from it.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Peace Be Upon Him) said to Muadh: "O Muadh, do you know what is the right of ALLAH upon His servants and what is the right of His servants upon ALLAH?" Muadh said: "ALLAH and His Messenger know best." He said: "The right of ALLAH upon His servants is that they worship Him alone and associate nothing with Him. And the right of His servants upon ALLAH — if they fulfil this — is that He will not punish them."
The same narration of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Peace Be Upon Him) is also found in Sahih Muslim with the same meaning: ALLAH's right over His servants is that they worship Him alone and associate no partners with Him.
How Muslims Understand This
Muslim scholars have always explained Tawheed ar-Rububiyyah as the starting point of Islamic faith. ALLAH created every atom of the universe, sustains every living thing, and controls every event — from the movement of stars to the falling of a single leaf. Nothing happens outside of His knowledge and will.
This does not mean that people have no choices or that they bear no responsibility. ALLAH created human beings with free will, and they are responsible for their own actions. But every cause in the universe ultimately traces back to ALLAH, who created those causes and keeps them in motion.

The Rabb is the one who created, owns, commands, and provides. Nothing in the heavens or earth belongs to anyone other than Him. To Him alone belong creation and the command.
The Makkan Arabs and Rububiyyah
A striking example from the Quran shows that acknowledging ALLAH as the Creator is not the same as worshipping Him correctly. When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Peace Be Upon Him) asked the Quraysh who created the heavens and the earth and who controls all things, they answered: "ALLAH." Yet they still worshipped idols alongside ALLAH.
وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُ
“And if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will surely say: ALLAH.”
Their belief in ALLAH's Lordship was real. But they failed in Uluhiyyah — directing all worship to ALLAH alone. This is why scholars say Rububiyyah is incomplete without Uluhiyyah.
